Coaching

Specialist goalkeeping coaches from Chelsea FC’s football development team lead several training sessions throughout the week focusing on skills specific to this position. During other sessions, goalkeepers will join the outfield players for coaching. During goalkeeper training players work on the physical and technical aspects of their position, including ball handling, positioning, shot stopping and distribution as well as psychological and social aspects of the game. During outfield training, they will work on their wider knowledge of the game and put their goalkeeping skills into practice in game scenarios.

Chelsea FC Training Centre

A full training day each week at Chelsea FC’s famous Training Centre in Cobham provides an inspirational setting for every player to accelerate progress and take their training to the next level. During the day Chelsea’s expert coaches, together with occasional special guests from the playing and back-room staff, offer players valuable insight into Chelsea FC and the professional game.

English

Classes focus on sport, engaging students’ passion for the subject to promote language learning in a fun and interactive environment. Using the CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) model of English, qualified teachers infuse language learning into lively and active classes where sports-based projects, discussions and activities take centre stage. Teachers guide students to improve their verbal communication skills while discussing legendary players, interviewing coaches, or writing and speaking their own commentary. Learning is supported by English teachers living on-site and English is spoken at all times throughout the camp, creating an immersive learning environment.

Results

Players improve through a combination of coaching, skills challenges and small-sided games. They leave with a better understanding of themselves as a player and gain confidence and insight from an international football environment. Their English skills are developed inside and outside the classroom, improving all aspects of their communication and understanding. All players receive an individual coaching review and a certificate. Players also leave with an English report from their teacher and advice on how to continue improving their English at home.
